A solar module manufacturing facility in the Alpes de Haute-Provence

The département of the Alpes de Haute-Provence and Solairedirect have announced the signing of a draft agreement that will pave the way for the construction of a crystalline photovoltaic solar module factory. This factory should become operational in the first quarter of 2011.
In the framework of the ‘Vallée des Energies Nouvelles’ (Renewable Energies Valley) project launched by the Conseil général of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, Solairedirect is setting up a crystalline photovoltaic solar module production unit at Peyruis, on the la Cassine site. This will lead to the creation of around 80 jobs initially thus making a concrete contribution towards introducing the green industrial revolution to local communities, as befits Solairedirect’s role as a pioneering French player in this field.

The design and scale of this facility are designed to be capable of meeting the demand that stem from the projects (solar power plants, domestic and commercial building roof arrays) under development in the Val de Durance and the neighbouring areas.

The Conseil Général des Alpes de Haute Provence is committed to nurturing the emerging photovoltaic sector and its actors in the département, as part of its strategy to encourage the sustainable, balanced development of the region. This agreement will strengthen the steps already taken to encourage the expansion of the green economy in the Val de Durance.
