Sisteron town council has voted unanimously in favour of the photovoltaic solar power plant project proposed by Solairedirect.
This project will be based on a 16 hectare site, one third of which will be taken up by solar modules. It will generate 8MW annually, in other words, enough to supply the electricity needs of 3,100 households. The project will be connected to the EDF substation by underground cables. In keeping with its commitment to sustainable development, as already seen in the Vinon-sur-Verdon solar power plant, Solairedirect has opted to make use of land that cannot be cultivated due to its proximity to a groundwater protection area. At the end of the plant’s operational life the site will be restored to its initial state and returned to its owner.
