Our ecological footprint measures the impact we directly have on the environment due to the natural resources that we use (eating, transport, housing, waste disposal etc). Since the 1980s, we have been taking more out of the earth than can be naturally replaced. Our consumption is greater than the regenerative capacity of the earth’s ecosystems. The sustainable threshold for the annual production of CO2 is around 500kg.
